'New Aubameyang' Responds To Newcastle United Transfer Links
Published: June 24, 2019
Nigeria U23 forward David Okereke has revealed exclusively to allnigeriasoccer.com that a transfer away from Serie B outfit Spezia is a distinct possibility as clubs across Europe circle for his signature.
Okeke who scored the Dream Team VII's fourth and last goal in a 4-0 (4-2 on aggregate) romp over Libya in a CAF U-23 AFCON qualifier in March spoke from his base on the likelihood of staying put or seeking new pastures.
"For now I don't know anything about the transfers," the striker with lightning speed and had been affectionately nicknamed the 'New Aubameyang' after Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stated.
"I'm just enjoying my break with my family at the moment," Okereke, not to be confused with David Albright Okeke, an Italian professional basketball player of Nigerian descent enthused.
"I spoke with my agent and he told me a lot of teams approached him and that before the end of the month (June 2019) he will get back to me so I'm still waiting.''
Okeke had been specifically linked with English Premier League side Newcastle United but he was evasive about calling out interested clubs though did hint of a move in the 2019/2020 season.
"I can't say anything about Newcastle but a transfer is likely to happen," Okeke quipped.
