Sheyi Ojo's Career In A Make-Or-Break Situation After Rangers Switch
Published: June 25, 2019
Sheyi Ojo caught the eye of many Liverpool fans when he made his first-team debut at the age of 18 against Exeter City three years ago.
His awesome display for the Reds throughout the game convinced the Anfield faithful that the young winger could be the perfect replacement for Raheem Sterling following Jordon Ibe's inability to replace the Manchester City winger.
Surprisingly, Sheyi Ojo couldn't maintain his great run of form and he was eventually loaned out to Fulham.
After his loan spell with the Cottagers, the ex-England youth international found himself at Stade de Reims last season but it was a spell he wouldn't want to remember.
He failed to live up to his billing with the French Ligue 1 team as he only featured in 15 Ligue 1 matches with no goal to show for it.
Despite his disappointing outing with the Ligue 1 side, former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard decided to give him another opportunity to bring his career back on track after reaching a one-year loan agreement with Liverpool for his signature.
Steven Gerrard spent a good number of years with the Reds, hence, he knows what it takes to break into the club's list of regular players and Ojo should be ready to learn from the gaffer.
The 21-year-old winger now has another opportunity to fine-tune his skills and to reignite his career after many wasted opportunities.
Gerrard knows the young man's ability and he is ready to explore his potentials in the upcoming season.
Should Ojo fail to impress under Gerrard, it could be very difficult to see another top-flight club move for his signature.
It won't be out of place to admit that his stay under Gerrard's tutelage will go a long way to determine his future at Anfield and he is in a make-or-break situation in Scotland.
