Super Eagles Player Ratings Vs Madagascar : Balogun Gets A 3; Mikel, Kalu Poor; Ogu Not Focused; Etebo Combative; Ighalo Starved Of Service
The Super Eagles were humiliated 2-0 by debutants Madagascar in their last Group B game of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

But how did the Nigerian players perform? Izuchukwu Okosi provides the answers.

The Starters

Goalkeeper

Ikechukwu Ezenwa : The goalkeeper was not to be blamed for both Madagascar goals. 5/10.

Defenders

Chidozie Awaziem : The right back was the more offensive of the two full backs. As early as the third minute he crossed the ball into the Madagascan box but had an average game. 5/10

Ola Aina : The Torino man was more conservative although he had some nervy moments. 5/10.

Leon Balogun : It was a horrendous performance by the Brighton defender who gave away possession for the first goal scored by Madagascar. Improved in the second half. 3/10.

William Troost Ekong : The Udinese defender was the better central defender by a mile. Organised and took no prisoners. 6/10.

Midfielders

John Ogu : Ogu was in action in the first half and had a poor game. It was not surprising that he was subbed off. 3.5/10.

Oghenekaro Etebo : The Stoke City star was combative in midfield and won several tackles. 7/10.

Mikel Obi : This game was arguably Mikel's worst game in the green and white jersey. Poor passes characterized  his efforts. 4/10.

Attackers

Samuel Kalu : The Bordeaux winger who had to overcome fitness issues to start on Sunday was not his boisterous self was not a threat to the opposition as he was seen in the qualifiers. 4/10.

Ahmed Musa : The experienced star had a chance to score in the first half but lost it. 5/10.

Odion Ighalo : Was starved of service highlighted by the fact he touched the ball only 35 times, the least figure accumulated by the Super Eagles outfielders that started and finished the game. 6/10

The Substitutes

Wilfred Ndidi : The Leicester City star was unfortunate to give away the free kick that culminated in the second goal. However ensured that the midfield was better. 7/10.

Alex Iwobi : Added attacking impetus to the team's game. 5/10.

Moses Simon : Added urgency to the flanks but no end result. 3/10.
