Published: July 08, 2019Five teenagers of Nigerian descent have inked new contracts with Premier League side Arsenal ahead of the new season.
The Gunners have confirmed their new first-year scholars and the intake includes Miguel Azeez, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Daniel Oyegoke, Ovie Ejeheri and Mazeed Ogungbo.
Azeez needs no introduction, he is regarded as the most exciting teenage Nigerian prospect at Arsenal if the likes of Bukayo Saka and Xavier Amaechi are not included.
The England U17 central midfielder came off the bench to make his debut for Arsenal U23 squad as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Boreham Wood on Saturday and will pen a professional contract on his 17th birthday, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Left-sided defender Ogungbo appeared in 8 matches for Arsenal in the U18 Premier League as a schoolboy while goalkeeper Ejeheri has been offered a new deal though he suffered a long-term injury last season.
Butler-Oyedeji has been described as a forward who presents a threat to opposition defences playing in wide positions and also centrally.
Right back Oyegoke joined Arsenal from Barnet two years ago and has made his competitive debut in the U18 Premier League for the North London club.
