Lampard Reveals The Two Chelsea Players Who Impressed Him In Win Vs Barcelona
Published: July 23, 2019
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard singled out Nigerian striker Tammy Abraham and Croatia World Cup star Mateo Kovacic for special praise following his side's 2-1 win against Barcelona on Tuesday.
Abraham gave Chelsea the lead in the 34th minute, after profiting from an error from Spain World Cup winning-midfielder Sergio Busquets.
Despite missing a sitter from six yards outs prior to his goal, the England U21 star was impressive before he was substituted in the 60th minute and Lampard admitted as much post-match.
Chelsea tweeted after the game : ''Frank Lampard says he was encouraged by tonight's performance, and picks out Mateo Kovacic and Tammy Abraham in particular for praise.''
Abraham has spent the last three successive seasons on loan at Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa but could remain at Chelsea for the upcoming season if he continues to impress Lampard in pre-season before the close of the transfer window.
The 21-year-old played with the number nine jersey in today's win against Barcelona.
