Ex-Chelsea GK With Caps For England Youth Teams Commits International Future To Nigeria
Published: July 26, 2019
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Nigeria Football Federation are in pole position ahead of their English counterparts to secure the services of former Chelsea goalkeeper Daniel Jinadu.
Now at West Ham and regarded as one of the top teenage goalkeepers in English football, Jinadu has confirmed that he has pledged his international future to the three-time African champions.
The 2002-born player has represented England at U15 and U16 levels but the Nigerian Federation will not apply for a change of association as all his caps at youth level were in friendly matches.
The Nigeria U17 coaches are monitoring the performances of the Hammers U18 star with a view to including him on the roster for the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.
A second year scholar at West Ham, Jinadu has made five appearances in the U18 Premier League posting two shutouts and made the bench for Premier League 2, Premier League International Cup and EFL Trophy matches.
Born in Nigeria, he trained with West Ham's first team in Switzerland ahead of the 2018-2019 season.
Two players on the books of English Premier League clubs, Chelsea's Adrian Akande and Bournemouth's Joseph Oluwabusola, were part of the Golden Eaglets at the 2019 U17 AFCON.
