Confirmed : Talented Nigerian Defender Inks New Two-Year Huddersfield Town Deal
Published: August 08, 2019
Huddersfield Town have announced that Nigerian defender Mustapha Olagunju has committed his future to the club by inking his first professional contract.
The 17-year-old is now contracted to The Terriers until at least June 2021 after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal with the club having the option to extend that contract until the summer of 2022.
Olagunju joined Huddersfield at U17 level and previously wore the colours of XYZ Academy and Kent Football United.
Academy Manager Leigh Bromby said : ''Mustapha thoroughly deserves his professional contract for many reasons.
''His progression as a footballer in his first 12 months at Huddersfield Town has been very impressive, thanks in no small part to his determination and attitude daily in training.
'''Muz' is still a relative novice to a professional football setup, so he has lots more to learn. All the coaches are really looking forward to continuing their work with him; we’re excited by his potential.''
