Amaechi Makes Professional Debut For Hamburg Two Weeks After Leaving Arsenal
Arsenal Academy product Xavier Amaechi has made his professional debut, two weeks after joining Hamburg from Premier League side Arsenal.

The 18-year-old came off the bench in the 100th minute as replacement for David Kinsombi as Hamburg beat Chemnitzer FC on penalties in the first round of the DFB Pokal on Sunday, August 11.

Amaechi was not eligible for Hamburg's season opener in the 2. Bundesliga against SV Darmstadt 98 (July 28) and was on the bench for the entirety of their 4-0 road win vs FC Nuremberg (Aug 5).

With extra time ending 2-2, penalties were needed to determine the winner and Hamburg won the shootout 6-5 but the Nigerian winger did not take a spot kick for the visitors.

Amaechi touched the ball twenty times and had a passing accuracy of 77 percent on his debut for one of the traditional clubs in Germany.

Having come through his senior debut unscathed, the number 17 is in contention to make his league debut this coming Friday against Bochum.
