Chelsea star Pedro faced the cameras ahead of Wednesday evening's UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool in Istanbul and discussed about Nigeria-eligible striker Tammy Abraham.
With 26 trophies in his career including the Champions League, Europa League and World Cup, the Spain international is the most decorated player in the Premier League.
Abraham has entered a new chapter in his career as he has been brought into the first team fold by manager Frank Lampard for the first time in his career after Chelsea were slapped with a two-window transfer ban by FIFA.
Although the number nine failed to score on his full debut for The Blues against Manchester United, he has the backing of Pedro.
''I know Tammy for a long time from when he was in the academy. I saw him training and on loan saw his improvement. His strength was to be in the Chelsea first team. He got a chance to be here because he deserves it,'' Pedro told reporters.
''In pre-season he has worked very hard. He was very close to start very well. Scoring is what strikers live for. We need to keep encouraging him.
''At this age, the only way he will go is up. We trust in him. A Chelsea striker demands the best level, but I am confident and trust him a lot.
''He is a player who has a great talent, work rate and that goal could have helped for the confidence, but I really trust him.''
While Abraham scored twice for Chelsea in pre-season, the 21-year-old will be aiming to score his first competitive goal for the Stamford Bridge outfit against Liverpool today.
