'It Is A Dream Come True' - Glasgow Rangers Star Reacts To Maiden Nigeria Call-Up
Published: August 14, 2019
Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has expressed delight at receiving his first ever call-up to the Super Eagles ahead of a post-Africa Cup of Nations international friendly against Ukraine on September 10.
The former Charlton Athletic star has been handed the ultimate reward by manager Gernot Rohr following his excellent start to life at the Scottish Premiership side.
Aribo is a modern day midfielder as he has both offensive and defensive attributes, and has scored three goals in his last four games in the UEFA Europa League.
The London-born midfielder is not provisionally cap-tied to England and there was no need for the Nigerian Federation to apply for a change of association.
''I am very happy, it is a dream come true to receive the call-up,'' said Aribo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
''My agent was the first person to inform me that I was invited to the Super Eagles. I had spoken to one of the assistant coaches in the team before the invitation.''
Apart from Aribo, the other foreign-born players named in the latest Super Eagles squad are goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and defenders Leon Balogun, William Ekong, Tyronne Ebuehi, Ola Aina and Semi Ajayi.
