Onuachu Breaks 11-Year-Old Nigerian Transfer Record As Genk Agree Deal To Sign Striker
According to matching press reports in Denmark and Belgium, Racing Genk and Danish club FC Midtjylland have reached an agreement for the transfer of Paul Onuachu.

The Nigeria international has been on the wish list of the Belgian First Division A champions throughout the summer transfer window and they have secured his services for seven million euros, which is equivalent to N2.74 billion in Nigerian currency.

The value of the transfer fee may increase as a result of bonuses and Midtjylland have retained a sell-on clause for any future sale of Onuachu.

This is the biggest transfer involving a Nigerian player representing a Danish club, surpassing the €3.3m fee Midtjylland received when they sold another FC Ebedei product, Femi Ajilore to FC Groningen in July 2008.

Onuachu has scored 74 goals in 181 matches since joining FC Midtjylland in 2012.

The 25-year-old will compete for a striking position with African players Stephen Odey, Joseph Paintsil and Mbwana Samatta at Racing Genk.
