Chelsea-Owned Striker Once Touted As The Next Tammy Abraham Opens Account For Roda
Published: August 25, 2019
Nigeria Football Federation target Ike Ugbo scored his first competitive goal for Roda JC in the club's 2-1 loss to NEC in the Eerste Divisie on Friday night.
Having trained with Chelsea's first team in the early stages of pre-season, Ugbo joined Roda on a season-long loan about three weeks ago and it has taken him only two games to wait for his maiden goal for the second tier club.
The former England U17 star made an immediate impact after coming off the bench in the 66th minute as he slotted home a minute later to make it 2-1.
Ugbo was once touted to be the next Tammy Abraham as he was as prolific as the England U21 star during their time with Chelsea's youth teams.
While Abraham netted 72 goals in 102 appearances for Chelsea's U18-U23 teams, Ugbo scored 63 goals, making comparisons between the two young strikers of Nigerian descent inevitable.
Ugbo has embarked on his fourth loan spell after previously playing for Barnsley, Milton Keynes Dons and Scunthorpe United.
