Former Premier League Star Backs Iwobi's Everton Move, Counters Kanu's Exit FrustrationSuper Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi made the right choice in signing for Everton this summer despite his departure dividing opinions among the club faithful.

Reacting to  comments in the media attributed to Arsenal and Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu about the Gunners' decision to sell the Nigerian to the Toffees, former Fulham, QPR, Bristol City and West Ham United forward Leroy Rosenior, who was speaking on Premier League Productions programme Fan Zone on Thursday said it was a good idea for Iwobi to leave Arsenal where he had played since he was eight years old.

"Look, Alex Iwobi had great potential at Arsenal but it seemed he was never going to be fulfill it and when Nicolas Pepe came I just felt wow and and they van play him with Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

"He can be a regular at Everton because at Arsenal he was never a starter and I don't think they saw him as that which would hold him back.

"They (Arsenal) gave him a five year contract but he needs to be a man. He's always been seen as a  youngster, he needs to mature.

Rosenior urged the Hale End Academy graduate to prove he has come of age under manager Marco Silva.

"He's got to prove himself at his new club - Everton is big. He needs to prove so I feel its a nice move for him," Rosenior concluded.

Everton will face host Bournemouth on Sunday 2pm Nigerian time as the Premier League returns with Arsenal's game with Watford to follow that same day.
