Chelsea Boss Lampard On Battles Between Abraham And Van Dijk, Tomori & Liverpool
Published: September 20, 2019
Chelsea coach Frank Lampard faced the cameras on Friday ahead of his side's eagerly anticipated Premier League match against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
The confrontation between Tammy Abraham and Virgil van Dijk, as well as Tomori up against Liverpool's attacking trident of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are two of the subjects he touched on.
Abraham has been in the best form of his life in the Premier League, scoring seven goals in his last three games, including a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Tomori has shone in his last two matches against clubs outside the so-called 'big six'.
Speaking to reporters, Lampard said : ''If they play, yes. Van Dijk’s performances have put him right up there. It’s a test for our centre-forward.
''And Tomori has shown a real calmness, but give Liverpool one second and they have gone.''
Chelsea and Liverpool will be looking to return to winning ways after suffering 1-0 and 2-0 defeats in the Champions League.
With only four goals conceded, Jurgen Klopp's side have the joint best defensive record in the Premier League along with Leicester City and Manchester United, and only Manchester City have scored more goals than the Anfield side after five rounds.
