'New Darling Of The Emirates' Battles Lacazette, Aubameyang, Martinelli For Arsenal Goal Of The Month Award
Published: October 02, 2019
New darling of the Emirates Stadium, Bukayo Saka has been nominated for Arsenal's Goal of the Month award for September 2019.
The Hale End Academy graduate has tough competition in his bid to win the accolade as goals scored by star strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have also been nominated, and Gabriel Martinelli's strike against Nottingham Forest is also in the running.
Saka was on target in a 3-0 away win at Eintracht Frankfurt on match day one in the Europa League, an exquisite finish from outside the box in the 85th minute to give the Gunners a two-goal advantage.
The 18-year-old netted his first senior goal for the North London club in his fifth appearance.
Despite being a young player still learning the ropes, the England U19 international has become an important player for Arsenal in recent games, starting the last two Premier League matches against Aston Villa and Manchester United.
In the online poll, via Arsenal's official website arsenal.com, Saka is presently third with 18 percent of the vote, behind Lacazette (40 percent) and Aubameyang (24 percent).
