'Chelsea's Best Performer In Last Three Games'- Manchester United Hero Heaps Plaudits On Tomori
Published: October 03, 2019
Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand on Wednesday night lavished praises on Chelsea's centre back Fikayo Tomori for his promising individual performance in the Blues' match day 2 Champions League clash against Lille.
Speaking as one of three guests on BT Sport which included former Chelsea midfielder and coach respectively; Joe Cole and Glenn Hoddle, Ferdinand asserted that Tomori was the best defender in action from both sides.
"Huge talent he is (in reference to Tomori). That was the best defender on the pitch.
"Everything he did - his tenacity, his anticipation, his willingness to step up and make quick decisions. He knew there were dangers," Ferdinand said as Tomori's tracking back to stop a counter attacking move was shown on television.
"This is Chelsea's best performer in their last three games. This is what you want from a centre back," Ferdinand added.
The panelists however unanimously agreed that the Chelsea three-man backline could have defended man marking than zonally for Lille's corner kick which culminated in the headed goal scored by Nigeria's Victor Osimhen.
