60 Of The Best Young Talents In World Football : One Nigeria-Eligible Player Makes List
Published: October 11, 2019
The Guardian UK has published its eagerly anticipated 60 most talented players in the world born in 2002, with only one Nigeria-eligible player making the cut.
FC Liefering striker Karim Adeyemi has been named among the most exciting 2002-born players in the world, a list that contains the likes of Barcelona's Ansu Fati, Real Madrid's Andri Lucas Gudjohnsen, Inter Milan's French midfielder Lucien Agoume, who has been dubbed the 'New Pogba'.
Born in Munich, Adeyemi had spells with the youth teams of Bayern Munich and SpVgg Unterhaching before moving to Austrian club FC Liefering in the summer of 2018.
The 17-year-old has represented Germany's U16 and U17 national teams and was invited to attend a Germany U18 training camp this month.
On Adeyemi, Kicker journalist Carsten Schröter-Lorenz wrote : ''He is a striker who can also play on the wing and he took the unusual route of going from Unterhaching, a small club near Munich, to FC Liefering, Red Bull Salzburg’s feeder team who play in the Austrian second division. The idea is that they get young players ready for senior football and Adeyemi has already settled well, scoring two goals and assisting four in his first six games in 2019-20.
''He is extremely quick and has an excellent eye for goal, but he can still improve his first touch and his decision-making one-on-one.''
