Barcelona Interested In Signing Red Bull Salzburg Striker Eligible For Nigeria
Published: October 15, 2019
According to a report by El Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg striker of Nigerian descent Karim Adeyemi.
The Blaugrana are ready to pay eight million euros to sign Adeyemi which would made him the most expensive U18 player of Nigerian descent in history, surpassing the €4.5 million Everton paid Fulham for Dennis Adeniran in August 2017.
The 2002-born Adeyemi is considered one of the best young talents in Europe and is rated in the same bracket as Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati.
Patrick Kluivert, Barcelona's director of youth football, became aware of the qualities of Adeyemi after he impressed in a UEFA Youth League game.
He joined Red Bull Salzburg in 2018 after stops at SpVgg Unterhaching and Bayern Munich, and has scored 7 goals in 11 matches for the Red Bull Salzburg teams in the current season with four assists to his name.
A Germany youth international, Adeyemi qualifies to represent Nigeria and Romania through his parents.
He has a contract with Red Bull Salzburg until the end of the 2020-2021 season.
