'Iwobi Is Gone' - Martin Keown Admits Arsenal Still Have Issues Despite Summer Clear-out
Published: October 25, 2019
Legendary Arsenal defender Martin Keown has admitted that the Gunners still have issues under manager Unai Emery despite the departure of players in the summer transfer window.
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, Spaniard Nacho Monreal, Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, goalkeeper David Ospina, ex-captain Laurent Koscielny, Mohamed Elneny, Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Danny Welbeck all departed the Emirates Stadium outfit in the summer transfer window.
Keown reckons that Arsenal have not improved despite the summer clear-out and arrival of new players.
''The message comes from the manager, he creates that urgency, he's the dynamo within the group. There are clear messages,'' Keown said, speaking as a pundit on BT Sport's coverage of Arsenal's Europa League clash against Vitória de Guimarães.
''When they are in possession of the ball there is an issue, there's a lot of trouble
''The changing of personnel, if you look now Mkhitaryan has gone on loan, Monreal has left, Iwobi is gone. This is now Emery's team.''
