ODIBE, SANI KAITA and EDWARD OFERE Handed Call Up for Iran Friendly

ODIBE, SANI KAITA and EDWARD OFERE Handed Call Up for Iran FriendlyItaly based duo of Michael Odibe and Eddie Ofere, who scored his first Serie A goal on Sunday against Brescia, have been invited for the Super Eagles friendly against Iran in the next Fifa window on November 17.

However, there is no place in the side for Vincent Enyeama and captain Joseph Yobo, who was heavily criticized after the 1-0 defeat to Guinea in Conakry on October 10.

The Metalist Kharkiv combative midfielder, Sani Kaita, has been recalled to the side by interim gaffer Austin Eguavoen. It's the first time he has been invited to the Eagles squad after his sending off against Greece in the World Cup. Since then, he has been overlooked for selection, and missed out on three games post world cup.

Emmanuel Ikpeme of the NFF Technical Department says the Eagles' coach needs to test younger players, and that the dropped 'regulars' were not been punished.

''There is nothing to be read from the decision. The players are not dropped. We just want to try out some younger players so that we can build strength in depth for the team. It also does not mean that the players not invited are no longer members of the team.

''They are key members of our squad, but we need to give other players a chance to see if they can fit in when these big players for any reason, are unavailable, '' Ikpeme said in a statement.

Thirteen foreign based and seven players in the local league have been invited for the match in Tehran.
