Published: November 04, 2019
The Golden Eaglets will face Netherlands in the round of 16 of the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup following the conclusion of the group stage matches on Sunday.
Nigeria secured their place in the last sixteen after topping Group B with six points from three game while the Netherlands advanced to the knockout stage with a 4-0 victory against the United States.
Back-to-back European champions Netherlands were one of the favorites heading into the tournament in Brazil but did not live up to their billing in the group stage, losing their opening two games to Japan and Senegal and conceding six goals in total, same number the Golden Eaglets let in in Group B.
Eight players on the books of famous Eredivisie club Ajax Amsterdam are in the Dutch squad.
Central defender Ki-Jana Hoever, who is the youngest ever player to represent Liverpool in the FA Cup, midfielder Ian Maatsen, who debuted for Chelsea's first team in September, and Manchester City winger Jayden Braaf are among the exciting talents expected to be on parade against Nigeria.
The winner of the Nigeria vs Netherlands round of 16 clash which will hold at Estádio Olímpico, Goiânia on Tuesday will face either Paraguay or Argentina in the last eight.
