Chelsea Legend Passing On His Experience To Nigeria Target Ugbo
Published: November 18, 2019
Tore André Flo's experience is rubbing off on Nigerian Federation target Ike Ugbo.
The former Norway international, who scored 50 career goals for Chelsea, is mentoring Ugbo on how to be a better striker.
The 21-year-old failed to live up to his billing as one of the most promising players to graduate from the Chelsea Academy in recent years during loan spells at Barnsley, Milton Keynes Dons and Scunthorpe United but has been enjoying a new lease of life since joining Roda JC in the summer transfer window.
Discussing the support he has received from Flo, Ugbo told Chelsea's official website : ''Tore has been working with me since my first loan so he’s seen everything over the past couple of years and he’s really pleased with me right now.
''It’s great as a striker to have him on hand. He's always giving me tips and advice after all my games, and pointing out things I need to work on to push myself to get to the next level''.
On the advice Flo has given him recently, Ugbo said : ''From my last loans, one of the things I wanted to really work on was my anticipation. I think now I’ve improved on it a lot and it’s not so much of a weakness.
''The area I’m focusing on now is the aerial side of the game. I want to get more goals from set-pieces so that’s something I’m working on now and Tore helps me with that.''
Ugbo has tallied nine goals for Roda this term, four more than his total for his three previous loan clubs in England.
