U17 World Cup Goal Of The Tournament : Golden Eaglets Star Battling MVP, Golden Boot Winner, 7 Others For Award
Published: November 19, 2019
The ten players nominated for the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup Goal of the Tournament have been revealed by FIFA and as expected Dabo Babes Academy starlet Ibrahim Said has been included on the shortlist.
Said found the net three times for the five-time U17 world champions during the recently concluded tournament in Brazil but the pick of his goals was his second strike in the 85th minute against Ecuador on October 29.
With the Manu Garba led side trailing 2-1, the attacking midfielder restored parity with a fabulous curling shot from the edge of the area.
Challenging the Nigeria U17 international for the individual accolade are MVP of the 2019 U17 World Cup Gabriel Veron (Brazil), Golden Boot winner Sontje Hansen (Netherlands), Silver Boot winner Nathanael Mbuku (France), Diego (Brazil), Diego Duarte (Paraguay), Matias Godoy (Argentina), Degnand Gnonto, Gaetano Oristanio (both Italy) and Santiago Munoz (Mexico).
Voting closes next Monday 25 November at 15:00 CET and FIFA will reveal the winner of the best goal scored during the tournament in Brazil on that same Monday.
Captain Samson Tijani, Usman Ibrahim, Oluwatimilehin Adeniyi, Peter Olawale and Olakunle Olusegun also scored for the Golden Eaglets at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup.
