Published: November 22, 2019
Nigeria-eligible striker Rinsola Babajide opened her goalscoring account for the 2019-2020 season as Liverpool FC Women demolished Blackburn Rovers 6-0 in the group stage of the Continental Tyres Cup on Thursday night.
At minute 13, she almost doubled The Reds lead but was denied by a block on the goal line but ten minutes later the striker found the back of the net from the edge of the box to make it 2-0.
Three minutes into the second half, Babajide came close to grabbing her second goal of the game after receiving a pass from Lawley but saw her effort blocked.
Six different players were on the scoresheet for Liverpool in the comprehensive win against Blackburn Rovers namely Rhiannon Roberts, Melissa Lawley, Rinsola Babajide, Ashley Hodson, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk and Missy Bo Kearns.
In the current season, the Anglo-Nigerian forward has yet to open her account in the Women's Super League after six games for Liverpool.
The 21-year-old Babajide was a member of the England squad that finished third at the 2018 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in France.
She previously played for Millwall Lionesses, Crystal Palace Ladies and Watford.
