Red Bull Salzburg Sporting Director Clarifies Future Of Barcelona, Liverpool Target Adeyemi
Published: November 27, 2019
Red Bull Salzburg have no plans to part company with German-Nigerian striker Karim Adeyemi in the January transfer window amid interest from German, English and Spanish clubs.
La Liga champions Barcelona are keen to sign the Germany youth international, and he is also on the radar of Liverpool and Arsenal plus Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
Adeyemi is contracted to Red Bull Salzburg until the end of the 2020-2021 season, having penned a three-year deal when he joined the club from SpVgg Unterhaching.
''He does not have that much contract anymore. But we try to keep him with us for a longer period of time," explained Salzburg's sports director Christoph Freund in an interview with the APA - Austria Press Agency published by Sky Sport Austria.
Red Bull Salzburg, who acquired Adeyemi for €3.35m in 2018, recently rejected a €15m bid from Barcelona to sign one of the most promising teenagers in Europe.
''We could get many more now, but we do not want that. We want him to develop with us. We want him to take the next step with us
''He knows that very well, he already knows he still has a way to go. There is still work to do, it is important that he stays on the ground,'' added Freund.
Adeyemi has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg teams this season and has six assists to his name.
