Golden Eaglets Captain Tijani Saga Update : Racing Genk Linked; Father Goes Into Hiding; N1.5M Spent To Get Exclusive Mandate
Published: December 05, 2019
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Racing Genk are the latest club interested in signing Nigeria U17 international Samson Tijani.
The Golden Eagles captain has previously courted interest from another Belgian First Division A side, Anderlecht but they pulled out of the deal because of the multiplicity of mandates, with several agents claiming to represent the central midfielder.
Racing Genk, where Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi started his professional career, are mulling over calling off the deal because of the aforementioned reason.
At least two aggrieved agents who have been issued parental consent are determined to bring Tijani's father, Bashiru Tijani, to book but he has gone into hiding to avoid possible arrest.
Per court documents cited by this website, Bashiru Tijani was residing at No. 16 Shobande Rasak Street, Aboru, Ipaja in Lagos State, before the owner of Jossy United Football Club rented a new apartment for him and his family.
An agent spent over N1.5 million before he was issued a mandate by Tijani's father.
Before Bashiru Tijani agreed to issue the agent a parental consent, he was lodged in a hotel, Rita's Events & Suites, Abule Egba for three days and invited a close friend and one of his family members living in Ibadan to wine and dine with him, with the agent picking up the tabs.
Allnigeriasoccer.com contacted a close friend to the owner of Jossy United to hear his side of the story but he informed this website that the Festac Town-based Chief traveled out of town.
