Former Liverpool Striker Reveals What Impressed Him About Iheanacho's Goal Vs Aston Villa
Published: December 09, 2019
One player that enjoyed himself on Sunday in his first Premier League start in a year was Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored and provided an assist as Brendan Rodgers' side thrashed Aston Villa 4-1 at Villa Park.
Regarding his first-team opportunities in subsequent matches, the Nigeria international has given his manager something to think about, having scored in all the four games he has featured in this season.
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen was impressed with the way Iheanacho took his goal against Aston Villa and praised him for his work ethic without the ball.
Speaking on Premier League Productions programme Premier League Wrap, Owen said : ''He was a real thorn, just look at his movement before we talk about it.
''He sets off early, he gets that half a yard early. Normally, strikers will wait, wait and wait until the trigger is about to be pulled and then they will just make a last-minute dash across.
''He moves earlier and he managed to get in a really dangerous area in that front post. You can see he doesn't get the first touch but he's in a real dangerous position to get the second touch.
''He deserved his goal because he worked really hard as well off the ball''.

Prior to yesterday's meeting at Villa Park, Iheanacho had not started a game in the Premier League since December 8, 2018 when he lasted 56 minutes on the King Power Stadium turf in a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
