Two Players Of Nigerian Origin Named In Championship Team Of The Week
Published: December 09, 2019
Two players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Tosin Adarabioyo and Eberechi Eze have been named to the latest EFL Championship Team of the Week by respected football statistics website Whoscored following the conclusion of the matchday 20 fixtures on Sunday, December 8.
It's no surprise that Eze has made the ceremonial best eleven players in the division after bagging a brace for the Hoops as they registered a 2-0 win versus Preston North End.
As for Manchester City-owned central defender Adarabioyo, he was impressive as Blackburn Rovers won their fourth successive game, beating Derby County 1-0.
While Adarabioyo was deployed as one of the two central defenders in a 4-4-2 formation, Eze took up a place in his natural attacking midfield position.
The Queens Park Rangers number 10 registered a game-high four shots against Preston, with all of them on target, completed three dribbles and won two fouls against Preston.
Making his 11th league start of the season, Adarabioyo won five aerial duels, made a team-high six clearances, made two interceptions and one tackle vs Derby.
Eze had a rating of 8.7 out of ten marks and Adarabioyo got 7.8 for his efforts.
