Lille Coach Comments On The Future Of Barcelona-Linked Striker Osimhen
Published: December 09, 2019Lille coach Christophe Galtier has insisted that Victor Osimhen will remain at the club when the January transfer window closes for business, amid speculation linking the striker with a move to Barcelona.
The Spanish champions have identified the Nigeria international as a possible replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez and have been monitoring his performances in France.
Since transferring to Lille, Osimhen has proved that his form last season for Sporting Charleroi was not a flash in the pan, with 11 goals in 21 games across all competitions.
On an international level, the Ultimate Strikers product has also established himself as one of the hottest African footballers, scoring four goals in his last four appearances for the Super Eagles and was recently nominated for the African Youth Player of the Year by the Confederation of African Football.
Asked if Osimhen will stay until the end of the season, Galtier told beIN SPORTS : '' Yes, I believe so. But in football, nothing is safe. I can confirm this with regard to the weeks that have just passed''.
Osimhen is expected to be on parade for Lille when they tackle Chelsea in their final Champions League group game on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.
