Manchester City have bowed out of the UEFA Youth League following their 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in their final Group C fixture on Wednesday afternoon.
Manchester City U19 coach Paul Harsley included three Nigeria-eligible players in his starting line-up, namely Republic of Ireland U21 international Gavin Bazunu, England U18 international Nathanael Ogbeta and Nigeria U20 invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and the three teenagers all went the distance.
According to reporting by Croatian daily newspaper Vecernji, scouts of Manchester United, Celtic, PSG, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Valencia, Real Sociedad, Eintracht, Wolsfburg, Lille and Benfica were present for today's game at Stadion Hitrec-Kacian, Zagreb.
The mission of the talent spotters in the Croatian capital was to monitor at close quarters the outstanding talents on both teams.
Ogbeta has been at Man City since the age of ten, Fisayo joined as an eight-year-old and Bazunu was signed from Shamrock Rovers in February 2019.
The three players have trained with Manchester City's first team in the past, with Ogbeta and Bazunu part of pre-season rosters in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
Midfielder Dele-Bashiru has committed his international future to Nigeria and trained with the Flying Eagles in Germany seven months ago.
