'He Is A Good Striker' - Ex-Arsenal Star Hails Zirkzee As Nigerian Whizkid Equals 53-Year-Old Record
Published: December 22, 2019
Nigeria-eligible striker Joshua Zirkzee has been hailed by teammate and former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry in the wake of Bayern Munich's 2-0 win against Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.
Zirkzee has been the talk of the town in Nigeria, Germany and Netherlands following his dream week at Bayern, scoring on his Bundesliga debut against SC Freiburg before netting another game-winning goal in yesterday's win at the Allianz Arena.
Germany international Gnabry also found the net in injury time in both matches Zirkzee scored the go-ahead goal.
Speaking to reporters post-match, Gnabry said : "He is a good striker, scored last week and it is therefore all the better that he scored again. Hansi made a good change again".
It is worth mentioning that Zirkzee scored his two Bundesliga goals after spending only 8 minutes on the pitch (excluding injury time).
Aged 18, he is the second teenager to score in his first two Bundesliga appearances while representing Bayern Munich, after Peter Werner in March 1966.
Zirkzee joined Bayern Munch in 2017 after spells with the youth teams of Spartaan '20, ADO Den Haag and Feyenoord.
