Confirmed : Onaiwu Joins Japanese Champions Yokohama F. Marinos
Through a statement on their official website, Japanese champions Yokohama F. Marinos have confirmed the signing of Japanese-Nigerian striker Ado Onaiwu.

The 24-year-old is joining the J1 League side on a permanent deal, ending his three-year association with Urawa Red Diamonds in the process.

Yokohama F. Marinos are partly owned by City Football Group, the parent company of Manchester City and also have stakes in New York City, Girona and Melbourne City.

Commenting on his transfer to Yokohama F. Marinos, Onaiwu told the club's official webpage : "I'm very happy to be a part of this team. I'll do my best to contribute to the team's victory, and we appreciate your support."

Born to a Nigerian father and a Japanese mom, Onaiwu has caps for Japan's U21 and U23 national teams and was called up for a friendly against Venezuela senior national team last month but was an unused substitute.

He lists Shochi Fukaya High School, JEF United Chiba, Renofa Yamaguchi and Oita Trinita among his previous clubs.
