Sheffield Wednesday's Osaze Urhoghide made his professional debut as The Owls recorded a shock 1-0 win over a Brighton & Hove side containing Leon Balogun at the American Express Community Stadium.
The defender trained with Nigeria U23 team in 2019 ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Libya.
At Turf Moor, Burnley eased to the next round after beating Peterborough 4-2, with goals from Jay Rodriguez(2), Eric Pieters, Jeff Hendrick while Ivan Toney and Jade-Jones scored for the visitors.
Nigerian defender Ali Koiki will not come off the substitute bench to make his senior debut for Burnley.
Elsewhere, Norwich brushed past Preston North End 4-2, thanks to a first senior treble from Adam Idah.
The striker opened the floodgates after just two minutes before adding further goals in the 38th and 61st minutes to go with Onel Hernandez's goal for the Canaries.
At Vicarage Road, Watford could only manage a 3-3 draw with Tranmere Rovers after leading 3-0 at the break.
Tom Dele-Bashiru who made a rare start for the Hornets who also paraded Isaac Success, broke the deadlock with a screamer from outside the box in the 12th minute after connecting with a Nathaniel Chalobah's pass, before Chalobah and Roberto Pereyra added the other goals for the hosts.
Jennings Connor, Paul Mullins and Emmanuel Monthe all scored for Rovers in the second period to force a replay.
Finally, Owen Otasowie is in line to make his domestic bow for Wolverhampton Wanderers as he has been included in the match day squad set to face Manchester United at the Molineux.
