Dessers Comments On Future Amid Anderlecht, Genk and Club Brugge Link
Published: January 12, 2020
Heracles Almelo striker Cyriel Dessers has reiterated that he wants to see out the season with his Dutch club amid speculation linking him with possible moves to teams in Belgium, Italy and Portugal in the January transfer window.
But he is aware that his future is not in his own hands as Heracles Almelo could accept a large bid from an interested suitor before the window closes for business.
In quotes carried by Voetbal Belgie citing Het Belang van Limburg, Dessers stated : "If there is a fantastic club on January 31 that is once in a lifetime , something can always happen. I don't decide that, but the club. I prefer to continue at Heracles. It is up to me to prove that the past half year was not lucky".
The likes of Anderlecht, Genk and Club Brugge have been credited with an interest in the former OHL and Lokeren starlet and he has admitted that he closely monitors the Belgian First Division A.
"I am sure that I will also be able to draw my plan in Belgium. I really love Belgian football in the sense that it is very direct and physical.
"Fortunately we are here now with a few Belgians (Lucas Schoofs and Dario Van Den Buijs, ed.) And after a few years I can finally talk about Belgian football again. About what Anderlecht, Genk or Standard have done. That is also pleasant," Dessers concluded.
With 12 goals to his name after 18 appearances, no player in the whole of the Netherlands has scored more goals than Dessers in the Eredivisie this season.
