Manchester United Interested In Signing AFCON 2019 Top Scorer
Published: January 24, 2020Manchester United are looking to bring 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner Odion Ighalo back to the Premier League, according to reports.
Sky Sports claims the Red Devils will move into the loan market to sign a striker following the back injury suffered by England star Marcus Rashford.
The two players targeted by Manchester United have Premier League experience, former Watford center forward Ighalo and Leicester City's Algeria international Islam Slimani.
The former Super Eagle is presently on the books of Chinese Super League side Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, with whom he is contracted until December 2021.
Ighalo scored 40 goals in 100 appearances during his two-and-a-half-year stint with Watford and set up 11 goals.
The 30-year-old will not count as a non-European Union player because he has an Italian passport.
He could be become the first Nigerian-born footballer to play for Manchester United first team if the transfer comes to fruition.
