Re-born Super Eagles Striker Iheanacho Earns More Praise From Leicester City Coach
Published: January 27, 2020
Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho has been praised again by Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers ahead of tomorrow's Carabao Cup semifinal clash against Aston Villa.
It was a difficult 2018-2019 season for Iheanacho in terms of goals and playing opportunities as he scored just once in 30 Premier League appearances including 9 starts, and fell out with favour with Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, who omitted him from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations roster.
However, the Taye Academy Product is enjoying a new lease of life this campaign and is now a darling of Leicester City fans after coming off the bench to score crucial goals - most notably his game-winning goal vs Everton in the fourth minute of stoppage time last month.
Speaking during Monday's pre-match press conference, Rodgers told the national press in England : "I’ve been delighted with him (Iheanacho), whether he starts or comes off the bench, he makes an impact.
"I know he had a difficult period here, you sense the supporters are with him, they can see his qualities.
"It makes him a possibility to do well when he plays. In a winning squad, you have to be prepared to play the role. "

Iheanacho has now had a hand in 11 goals (7 goals, 4 assists) from 12 appearances this term after scoring vs Brentford in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup this past weekend.
