Super Eagle Awaziem Has A Day To Forget As Barcelona Captain Messi Reaches Two New Milestones
Porto loanee Chidozie Awaziem had a day to forget as CD Leganes were thrashed 5-0 by Barcelona in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey on Thursday evening.

In his first ever appearance against the Azulgranas, the Nigeria international went the distance while international and club teammate Kenneth Omeruo watched proceedings from the bench.

Antoine Griezmann and Clément Lenglet scored in the 4th and 27th minutes to give Barcelona a 2-0 lead at the interval.

In the second half, Messi bagged a brace and an additional tally from Arthur Melo saw the Camp Nou side record a comprehensive 5-0 victory.

The Argentina striker has now scored 500 goals for Barcelona in domestic competitions (La Liga, Copa del Rey and
Supercopa de España) , and the victory was his 500th with the club since his debut.

This was not one of Awaziem's best games in a Leganes jersey and he was at fault for four of the five goals conceded by his team.

Griezmann opened the scoring after playing the ball through his legs, and for the third goal Messi skipped past the Nigerian before his deflected shot hit the back of the net.

With 13 minutes remaining, Arthur extended Barcelona's lead to 4-0, smashing the ball in after an attempted clearance from Awaziem fell kindly to him and for the last goal of the game netted by Messi in the 89th minute , the Leganes number 12 was badly positioned.
