Exclusive : Arsenal's Nigerian-Born Defender Joins Premier Division Club In Ireland
Published: February 04, 2020
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that League Of Ireland Premier Division club Cork City are on the brink of announcing the signing of Nigerian-born defender Joseph Olowu.
Cork City and English Premier League side Arsenal have reached a club-to-club agreement for the loan of the versatile defender.
Olowu is preparing to fly out to Cork and will put pen to paper on a loan deal until the end of the 2019-2020 season, pending a routine medical.
The 20-year-old was left out of the Arsenal squad that suffered a 3-0 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League 2 last weekend to prevent him from suffering an injury ahead of his trip to the United Kingdom.
Touted as one of the best young defenders at Arsenal, Olowu was first called up to train with the Gunners first team during the 2017-2018 season when Arsene Wenger was coaching the north London club.
He has been quoted as being calm in possession and a towering presence in defence by Arsenal's official website, arsenal.com.
The Nigeria Football Federation have sounded him about representing the Nigerian national teams in the near future.
