Manchester City Join Premier League Rivals In Race To Sign Villarreal Dazzler Chukwueze
Published: February 11, 2020
Manchester City are the latest English Premier League club linked with a move for Villarreal dazzler Samuel Chukwueze.
The Daily Mail claims The Citizens, Chelsea and Liverpool are considering a summer move for the Nigeria international.
The European champions are believed to have a head start on their rivals, having tabled a bid of 35 million euros for the services of Chukweze in the January transfer window, according to reports in the French media on Monday.
The Premier League clubs would have to pay an astronomical fee to sign the right winger, with Villarreal inserting a release clause of 100 million euros into his new contract.
Chukwueze is now worth 200 times the original fee Villarreal paid to sign him from Diamond Academy in the summer of 2017.
The 20-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young talents in European football following his nominations for the Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy in 2019.
A pacy and tricky winger, Chukwueze has been involved in 8 goals (4 goals, 4 assists) from 26 appearances for Villarreal so far this season.
