Former Flying Eagles invitee Freddie Ladapo pounced on a loose ball and smashed home from close range to make it 2-1 in the 81st minute. The Rotherman striker has 14 goals to his name this season, including 11 in the league.
A division lower, Exeter City walked away with three points in their pocket, beating Macclesfield Town 3-2 at Moss Rose Ground.
Manchester United Academy product Nicky Ajose tapped home to put the visitors ahead in the 10th minute.
