Impossible To Snub : Dessers Sends Message To Rohr With 18th Goal Ahead Of Squad Announcement

Belgian-born striker Cyriel Dessers has sent a message to Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr that he is in prolific form by netting his eighteenth goal across all competitions this term, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The 25-year-old netted what proved to be the eventual game-winner in the 77th minute as Heracles registered a 1-0 win against Ajax Amsterdam in a Dutch Eredivisie clash at Stadion Erve Asito (Almelo) on Sunday evening.

Dessers fired a brilliant right-footed half volley from the edge of the area beyond Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana to secure all three points for the home team.

In doing so, the former FC Utrecht and NAC Breda man took his tally for the season to 15 goals in the league, making him the outright top scorer in the division ahead of Feyenoord's Steven Berghuis and Vitesse's Brian Linssen who are both on 14 goals.

Gernot Rohr is expected to announce his squad list for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone within the next two weeks and one of the strikers he's considering handing a maiden senior call-up is Dessers.

No Nigerian player has scored more goals than Dessers in the European top-flight Leagues so far this season.
