Nigeria U23 Star Ready To Play Important Role For Club Brugge Against Manchester United
Published: February 26, 2020
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria U23 international David Okereke is ready to play an important role for Club Brugge when they take on Manchester United in a Europa League round of 32 match at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
Club Brugge manager Philippe Clement will not be able to count on Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis, who has been omitted from the traveling party to Manchester owing to injury.
One of the players being considered to fill in for the injured Dennis is Okereke and the likelihood of him starting has been put at seventy percent ahead of the team's final training session this evening.
Manager Clement is said to be a very pragmatic coach who changes formation sometimes at the last minute as he wants to maximize the players at his disposal, with Club Brugge still involved in three competitions including the Europa League, Belgian First Division A and Beker van Belgie.
Okereke played through the pain barrier for most part of last month but he is nearing a return to full fitness and completed all the training sessions prior to the trip to Manchester without any difficulty.
Club Brugge have contested eleven matches in European competitions this season, with their most expensive signing in history named in the starting line-up on six occasions.
