Former Netherlands International Urges Eredivisie Top Scorer To Join Glasgow Celtic
Published: February 26, 2020
Former Netherlands international René van der Gijp has urged Belgian born striker of Nigerian descent, Cyriel Dessers to join Scottish Premiership champions Celtic in the summer.
The Heracles frontman is the leading scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie with 15 goals from 24 appearances and everything is pointing to the fact that the Almelo based club could cash in on the striker when the transfer window reopens for business.
Dessers earned plaudits from the pundits at Veronica Inside after his latest goal against Ajax Amsterdam.
In quotes carried by Voetbalnieuws, Hans Kraay Junior said : "Celta de Vigo were prepared to pay 4.5 million euros in January and at the end of the transfer market, SPAL were also very interested."
René Van der Gijp added : "If he could go to a club like, say, Celtic, that would be great for him."
Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws has informed that Ajax Amsterdam and some unnamed Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Dessers with a view to a summer move.
His contract with Heracles will run out at the end of the 2021-2022 season.
