Manchester United Goal Of The Month : Martial Beats Nigerian Duo To Award
Published: March 05, 2020France international Antony Martial has beaten two Nigerian teenagers and six other players to Manchester United Goal of the Month award for February 2020, informs the official Twitter account of the Red Devils.
The 24-year-old's effort in the 3-0 rout of Watford on February 23 was voted as the most eye-catching goal scored by a Manchester United player last month.
Ayodeji Sotona and Dillon Hoogewerf had been shortlisted for the Goal of the Month for their stunning strikes against Wigan Athletic and Leeds United respectively in the FA Youth Cup.
The other nominees included Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay, James Garner, Fred and Manchester United Women duo Leah Galton and Lauren James.
Sotona has scored three goals for United youth teams in the current season while Hoogewerf has hit the back of the net on eight occasions.
Waterford-born Sotona has played non-binding games for Republic of Ireland U16 teams and Hoogewerf is provisionally cap-tied to the Netherlands.
