Super Eagles Winger Walking Suspension Tightrope Ahead Of Bordeaux Vs Rennes
Published: March 09, 2020Samuel Kalu is walking a suspension tightrope ahead of Bordeaux's Ligue 1 meeting against Rennes on Sunday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Nigeria international was shown a yellow card by referee Thomas Léonard during Bordeaux's 1-1 draw against Saint-Etienne at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
Kalu's 37th minute caution was the second game in a row he has been booked, meaning he has to serve a one-match suspension if he is booked in any of the next seven games.
The Bordeaux number 10 is currently on four yellow cards for the season in the league alone, having been cautioned earlier in matches against Montpellier, Lyon and OGC Nice.
Kalu has been reinstated in Bordeaux's starting line-up, starting the last three games in the French top-flight after missing the previous five.
Taking that into consideration, the 22-year-old was handed a call-up by manager Gernot Rohr for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
