Super Eagles First Choice Left-back Suffers Ankle Injury Ahead Of AFCONQ Vs Sierra Leone
Jamilu Collins has emerged as an injury worry for the Super Eagles ahead of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone later this month.

According to German sports magazine Kicker, manager Paderborn Steffen Baumgart is sweating over the fitness of the Nigeria international ahead of his side's Bundesliga meeting against Fortuna Düsseldorf this coming Friday.

Collins was excused from Paderborn's first training session of the week because he's suffering from an ankle injury.

At the moment, it is unclear when he will resume full training with the rest of his teammates.

This would be bad news for Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr considering the fact that Collins is the only out-and-out left-footed player of the nine defenders, including Abdullahi Shehu, called up for the double-header with the Leone Stars.

An unpopular choice then when he was first invited to the national team, Collins has made the left-back position his own, starting and going the distance in six of the last seven matches played by the three-time African champions.

The former Rijeka man had fitness issues last month, so much so that he was given a rest for the trip to Bayern Munich.
