Rizespor's Nigeria International Striker Out For The Rest Of The Season After ACL Injury
Nigeria international striker Aminu Umar will miss the rest of the 2019-2020 season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament, Rizespor have confirmed via their official website.

Umar suffered the injury during Rizespor's 5-2 loss to Trabzonspor on February 29, which led to his substitution in the 65th minute of the contest at Senol Gunes Spor Kompleksi.

The Rio Olympics bronze medalist had surgery on March 14 to rectify the problem and his expected recovery time is six months.

"Our footballer Aminu Umar was operated at Acıbadem Fulya Hospital," Rizespor said in a statement.

"Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Prof. Dr. Omer Taser performed anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

"Professor Dr. Omer Taser stated that the athlete who had a successful operation can start working again within 6 months."

As a result of Umar's surgery, it means he will play only 18 matches in the Turkish Super Lig this season. The 25-year-old joined Rizespor on a permanent deal last summer.
