Top Six Best Ligue 1 Signings : French Football Expert Ranks Maja In The Same Category As Osimhen

French football expert and RMC journalist Daniel Riolo has ranked Bordeaux striker Josh Maja in the same category as international teammate Victor Osimhen.

Invited by After Foot, Riolo was asked to name the top five signings made by Ligue 1 clubs in the 2019-2020 season and he reeled out names of eleven players, even including a player that was signed in January 2019, Maja.

In quotes carried by Foot Sur 7, Riolo stated : "Beyond my top 5-6 (Victor Osimhen , Keylor Navas, Pablo Sarabia, Bruno Guimaraes, Alvaro Gonzalez and Dario Benedetto), Renato Sanches, Kasper Dolberg, Mauro Icardi, Wissam Ben Yedder, it's top also.

"And even Josh Maja in Bordeaux, he's not bad either. I'm talking about Maja because hey… It's true that in the doldrums and the Bordeaux context, he doesn't show up well, but he is a good player."

Signed from Sunderland fourteen months ago, Maja has started only six out of a possible 28 games for Bordeaux in the French top division.

Despite his limited game time, the 21-year-old has done pretty well, scoring 6 goals in 722 minutes of action and has set up two goals.
