Partizan's Sadiq Is The Nigerian King Of Goals And Assists In Europe, Nwakaeme Not Far Behind
Published: March 22, 2020Former Nigeria U23 international Umar Sadiq is the only Nigerian player to register double figures for goals and assists in Europe's top-flight leagues in the 2019-2020 season so far, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Partizan Belgrade star has tallied 11 goals in the Serbian Super Liga while producing eleven assists.
If Europa League qualifying and group stage matches are included, Sadiq has been involved in an incredible 29 goals (16 goals, 13 assists) in 34 matches across all competitions this term.
Though his main job is to score goals, no other Nigerian player has more assists than the former Roma and Spezia man this season.
Remarkably, the 23-year-old has been involved in three goals against five different teams - FC Astana in the Europa League and in league matches against Radnicki Nis, Spartak, Vojvodina and Javor-Matis.
His thirteen assists for Partizan Belgrade is almost double the figure he managed combined for his previous clubs - seven in total for AC Perugia (3), NAC Breda (3) and Bologna (1).
Not far behind Sadiq is Trabzonspor's Anthony Nwakaeme who has 10 goals in the Turkish Super Lig and a further 9 assists to his name.
Last season, Nwakaeme was the only Nigerian player to register double figures for goals and assists, chipping in with 10 goals and 10 assists.
