Arsenal's Premier League Top Tacklers Since 2010 : Saka The Second Best This Season
Published: March 23, 2020
Through their official website arsenal.com, Arsenal have listed their top five tacklers from the past ten Premier League seasons.
During the period under review, three Nigerian players Alex Iwobi, Chuba Akpom and Bukayo Saka featured for Arsenal in the Premier League but only one of the aforementioned Hale End Academy products cracked the list.
For the 2019-2020 season, left-back Saka is ranked the joint second best tackler at Arsenal with 19 tackles, same as Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who has been deployed at right-back in 14 games this term.
Saka was moved to the left-back position by the Arsenal coaches following the injuries sustained by Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney and his tackling rate suggests that he has impressed defensively.
The 18-year-old has already shown glimpses of his offensive qualities, scoring 3 goals and he's the Arsenal player with the most assists in all competitions (10).
The versatile youngster is highly regarded by manager Mikel Arteta and the north London club are keen to tie him down to a new deal, with the current agreement between club and player expiring in June 2021.
